Grandpa Visits from Hilo

Tuesday night my grandpa and grandma flew from Hilo to visit us all. We have been just spending time with both of them since we do not get to see them that often. Friday, my dad took us sight seeing around Portland. (This was one thing my grandpa wanted to do). We had a great time with him and my grandma.

Today, my grandpa taught my sisters and I how to cook some Hawaiian food. It was a lot of fun! We took video so that we can make if for our friends sometime too! Then we had a BBQ with the Taylor families and a few relatives. Below are some pictures from our adventures on Friday.

Columbia River. After the falls we went out to Beaverton, OR to pick up some groceries before visiting our Grandma Feliciano. (We stopped in at the Sameday Shop to show our grandparents where we work)!

Jesus Is What People Need

I went to hula practice the other night. Usually we warm up and then practice our dances for a few hours. This practice was different. My teachers had all of the students write a paragraph on what we want to gain from hula and why do we take hula. About fifteen minutes passed when they told us to put our pencils down and read aloud what we wrote. What I heard next made me thankful that my hope is only in Jesus, nothing else. One lady, a single mom, said that she was doing hula in hopes of gaining a good role model for her three year old son. Another said she goes to hula because she wants to feel loved and accepted by people. When I heard these things, I felt sorry for these girls/women. I thought, "Jesus is what people need." 


After practice, I went home and talked to my dad about what we did at hula that night. He said that when there isn't a foundation of the Word being preached, people start looking or going to other places to fill their wants and desires. I told my dad that I was also seeing that it's not just the people in my hula class but I need Jesus and His word every day. Oswald Chambers says, "There is only one Being who can satisfy the last aching abyss of the human heart, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ." This is so true. Without His word and daily baptism through my dad, pastor, mom, siblings and friends, I would be the same way. I will be looking for something other than God and His word to fill my desires. Have I failed at this? Yes, but I am thankful for the washing of His word through people (neighbors) and the forgiveness of sins.

Mother's Day

I am blessed with a loving, caring, virtuous and godly mom. I am thankful the Lord has put her in my life.

Surprise!

Last night my dad took me to a surprise dinner at Portland City Grill in Downtown Portland for my 20th birthday. (It was actually Mahea's birthday but we usually celebrate our birthdays together because they are only a day apart). Anyway, my whole family came and then Ben, Mahea and their kids joined us too! (She was just as surprised as I was). We had a great time.....lots of laughs and toasts!

If you are ever in Portland and want a very fancy, beautiful & nice restaurant to go to, Portland City Grill is the place to go! It has an amazing view and delicious food. (Good company makes it even better)! Below are some pictures of our night.
